FAQ

Does Medicare cover your services?

No, unless your GP has provided an Enhanced Primary Care (EPC) referral form for an established chronic condition to be treated. An EPC form can be provided for physiotherapy, chiropractic, dietitian, exercise physiology, psychology or podiatry consultations.

How much rebate will I receive from my health fund?

Your benefit will depend on your health fund and your level of cover, generally it varies from $10 to $55. For a more accurate rebate please contact your health fund directly.

Do I need a referral to see a member of your team?

No, you are not required to bring a medical referral.

What should I bring to my consultation?

Bring any x-rays, scans, health fund membership card, relevant referrals, claim numbers (compensation claims) and any relevant paperwork to your injury. If you have none of the above just come as you are.

Which therapy should I choose?

We strive to help you to become the best version of yourself. Our staff work very closely together and often incorporate aspects of physiotherapy in our chiropractic treatments and vice versa. However there are certain conditions or stages of treatment where either chiropractic or physiotherapy is more suited than the other. Our qualified and expert staff will guide you to the relevant therapy that is best suited for your condition.

Will my treatment remain the same every time?

No, your treatment plan is dynamic and dependant on the stage of therapy. For example, in the majority of cases, the aim is pain relief, however as you improve the focus will change towards longer term goals such as improving function or staying out of pain.

What is the difference between chiro and physio? Which one is better?

There are many roads to the same destination. The best treatment is one that best suits your situation. Traditionally, chiropractors are more short term focused and physiotherapists are focused on longer term relief. At Fort Healthcare we believe in cross specialisation to provide the best results for you.

How many treatments will I need? How often do I need to come?

This will vary for each individual person. Initially, the treatments may be spaced close together to allow for the effect of the therapy to be cumulative whilst in the later stages of treatment, you should start coming in less and less. For best results we recommend a maintenance schedule. This is when the therapist assesses your situation and health goals and continues to motivate, educate and rehabilitate to strive for your optimal health.

Will treatment hurt?

No, however there may be some discomfort after treatment, especially during the first time treatment. This discomfort is normal and will subside within one or two days. The staff at Fort Healthcare use special techniques and methods to minimise this discomfort.
