Fort Healthcare Occupational Therapists (OTs) are AHPRA registered allied health professionals in Australia, who can help you maintain, regain or improve your independence. Our OTs use a variety of techniques and equipment to help people overcome physical, sensory, cognitive, and emotional challenges that interfere with their ability to perform daily tasks.

How can Fort Healthcare Occupational Therapists help me?
Fort Healthcare OTs work with people of any age, including children and older people, to help them do things that ‘occupy’ their time. These can include:

NDIS Funded Occupational Therapy Services
Fort Healthcare is NDIS registered provider. Our OTs are person-centred health prefessions concerned with promoting health and wellbeing through participation in occupations that bring meaning and purpose to your lives. We achieve this by working with NDIS participants, healthcare teams, family and support teams to enhance your ability to engage in the occupations you want, need, or are expected to do; or by modifying the occupation or the environment to better support your occupational engagement.

NDIS funded services includes:
- Promoting independence in activities of daily living and enablement of social and economic participation
- Documentation of support needs including persons, equipments, environments and etc.
- Disabilityy related chronic disease managemnet
- Utilisation of a care team approach, including development of a care plan, team meetings, training of support workers where needed
- Functional capacity intervention
- Tailored ongoing treatments program
- Home based, school based, workplace based therapy

Our Occupational Therapists' Key Roles
Assessment:
- Evaluate a person’s strengths, weaknesses, and limitations in performing everyday activities.
- Analyze the environment and identify any barriers to independence.
- Develop a personalized treatment plan based on the assessment findings.
Treatment:
- Provide interventions to improve a person’s ability to perform daily activities, such as:
- Self-care tasks (bathing, dressing, grooming)
- Home management (cooking, cleaning, laundry)
- Work or school activities
- Leisure activities
- Use various techniques and equipment, such as:
- Adaptive devices and assistive technology
- Sensory integration activities
- Exercise and movement programs
- Cognitive-behavioral therapy
Education:
- Educate patients and their families about their condition and how to manage it.
- Assist patients in setting realistic goals and developing coping mechanisms.
